Soulflower What A Melon Soap

Today I am going to review Soulflower 'What A Melon' soap which I bought during summers.

About Watermelon Soap:

This soap is very effective for damaged raw skin, if you have been out in the sun too long, or spend time in the pool or on the beach.

 

Ingredients:

1. Watermelons are rich in vitamins A, B & C that keeps the skin fresh, radiant & hydrated. The juice protects the skin from the sun. It also clears the skin leaving it free from blemishes, fresh and lovely. The fiber content in watermelon ensures toxins are scrubbed out of your system leaving your skin healthy & glowing.

2. Chlorophyll powder, which is made by crushing wheat germ grass, has antibacterial properties making it great for treating of acne, pimples, scarring & blemishes.

3. Green tea protects against sun damage, combats signs of aging, treats inflammatory skin conditions like acne & pimples & soothe cuts and sunburns.

4. Black sesame seeds help skin resist the aging process through the presence of a remarkable water-retentive protein. It can help reverse the effect of sun damage on delicate skin, and rejuvenate tired looking, older skin.

Ingredients List : Fresh watermelon, green tea powder, chlorophyll powder, black sesame seeds, glycerin, aqua, saponified oils of olive, coconut, castor, palm & palm kernel.

My Take On This Product:

I like many of the Soulflower soaps and bath salts that I bought from Soulflower India online shopping store during their weekend offer.Many a times you get several of their products at 50% discount or buy one get one free offer during weekends, so never miss out their weekend offers.You can also get their products at several E-Commerce sites at discount.I got this soap after reading its ingredients list and seeing its pictures, moreover I love watermelons as they are hydrating, refreshing and help in clearing blemishes too.This soap bar looks exactly like a watermelon, 3-4th is red in color and 1-4th green in color.It has sesame seeds embedded in it which looks like melon seeds,these are great for exfoliation but I feel these seeds feel scratchy on cheeks, so I don't directly use this soap directly on my face.It has got a tangy and very refreshing fragrance,not exactly of watermelon but really nice.If you have used their watermelon bath salt, then you would know as the fragrance is almost same.This soap bar is bulky like the other Soulflower soaps, so I cut it into two pieces to avoid wastage and melting.Though many of you may find it pricy, I feel its worth the price as these soaps last for long time if you use it on face,I am unable to finish it up entirely.

This soap creates rich lather that removes makeup effectively too, but ya sometimes leaves traces of waterproof makeup.Its a good cleanser and never ever strips off moisture off my skin.It leaves my skin very smooth and bright.It helped me a lot in reducing the size of zits I had on my face during summers.It removes dullness from face and makes it clear.With regular use of this soap along with Lush Aqua Marina Cleanser, I could see significant improvement in my skin tone , it helped in De-tanning too.This soaps soothes raw, sunburnt and irritated skin a lot.I had rashes on my body and this soap helped a lot in soothing the area.This soap is blessing for raw sunburnt skin, I like to use it after eye brow threading too.With regular use, there has been improvement in my skin, my skin looks clear, pores and zits have diminished a lot.

Its gentle enough to use daily on face.This soap does not melt like other organic soaps.This soaps contain watermelon juice which helps in clearing up blemishes, green tea and chlorophyll powder have anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.Soulflower has mentioned that this soap has triple functions:

-Cleansing

-Moisturizing

-Exfoliation

As far as cleansing is concerned, I am more than satisfied, it never ever makes my skin dry or flaky like other soaps,it removes makeup properly too just sometimes leaves traces of waterproof makeup.

It never strips moisture off my skin but I feel it does not moisturize my skin at all, I feel the need to use a moisturizer after half an hour of using it.

-The sesame seeds help in exfoliation but with regular use, the sesame seeds come to the surface and they feel scratchy on my skin, I do not support their exfoliation claim as the sesame seeds are quit big and coarse and harsh for my skin, they are unevenly distributed too.

-However it has soothing and De-tanning effect on my skin.It reduces zits, soothes sunburnt skin, even rashes.

Pros Of The Product:

-Its an organic soap free from harmful preservatives and SLS.

-This soap looks very interesting, exactly like a watermelon.

-It has watermelon juice which helps in clearing blemishes.

-Green tea and chlorophyll powder soothes sunburnt skin and reduces pimples too.

-Prevents occurrence of pimples.

-Never ever makes my skin dry like other soaps.

-Makes my skin clear, smooth and bright.

-Helps in removing tans too, use it regularly for that.

-Removes dulness from face in no time.

-My pores look diminished too after cleansing..

-Removes dirt, sweat , makeup effectively, just leaves traces if you using waterproof makeup.

-Available at several online shopping sites at discount.

-It lasts for a long time, as quantity is good.

-Soothes rashes and irritated skin.

-It contains sesame seeds which look like melon seeds and exfoliates skin.

-It has nice tangy, refreshing fragrance.

Cons Of The Product:

-The sesame seeds are quite harsh on skin, I would suggest not to use it directly on your face.

-For removing tan, one should use it regularly.

-Does not remove stubborn tans.

-I do not support the moisturizing claim made by Soulflower brand.

-It does not exfoliate skin properly, the seeds were just too scratchy that I had to take those out.

-I feel Soulflower soaps are pretty pricy.

-Not available in stores,only at online shopping sites.

Will I repurchase it? I just counted I have got some 11 Soulflower soaps which I got all during offer.It will take me a long time to finish up those,so till then I wont buy it again.

My Overall Recommendation:Soulflower 'What A Melon' organic soap is rich in watermelon juice, green tea, chlorophyll powder and sesame seeds.This soaps gives rich lather which removes makeup , dirt and sweat effectively.Its a great soap that removes dullness leaving bright,smooth and clear skin.With regular use, it helps in removal of tan and blemishes.It reduces pimples and prevents their occurrence too.It never ever made my skin dry but it did not moisturize my skin either.Its great for sunburnt and irritated skin.I would definitely recommend this soap to you all.

My Take On This Product:

I remember when I was a child my mom used to cleanse my hair with a maroon colored soap named Shikakai Soap.I never liked its fragrance and always used to request my momma to buy Sunsilk shampoo for me (That time Sunsilk TV commercials  used to come) I clearly remember how thick and healthy my hair used to be.I used to have very curly and thick hair with almost no hair fall. The moment I bade Goodbye to Soaps and started using shampoos my ordeal with hair and scalp related problems started.So the moment I saw this Soulflower Sandalwood Geranium Soap bar online, I really felt nostalgic remembering those good old days.

Though price of Soulflower soap really hit me hard but I thought to try it once and check how this one suits my dry hair.I checked online but did not get a single review, just got information regarding this product at the official site of Soulflower India.I was quite excited to try a hair shampoo bar after a long time that too which is completely free from SLS and contains no animal ingredients and harmful preservatives.

So coming back to review, this soap is maroon colored and has an ayurvedic yet refreshing fragrance.This soap is pretty bulky so I had to cut it into four chunks, this way it lasts long and does not feel bulky while using it.I have already finished one of the chunks and going to finish the second one by next week.Each of these soap chunks last for 8-9 washes on my shoulder length hair. So its going to last me a long time you see, pretty reasonable considering the lasting time.

This soap does not yield very rich lather yet I like it because I am satisfied that it does not contain SLS and second due to the creaminess of the lather.Whenever I use any shampoo on my dry hair and skip a conditioner then my hair gets tangled horribly.  :( This was the only shampoo which completely detangled my dry hair even after skipping a conditioner.It made my hair look darker, healthier and soft. It conditions my hair nicely, so I can skip a conditioner too.It controls frizz to some extent and makes hair bouncy.Generally I lose few strands with every wash after using any shampoo but this soap did not cause any hair fall in my case.I felt very very happy using it.

But whenever I apply oil and wash my hair, though initially my hair feels very soft and non greasy yet after two days my hair feels very limp and dull. So I think this is not for people with oily scalp. Its meant for dry hair and if you have very dry hair, you can use it and follow up with your HG Conditioner.I sometimes Apply Organic Surge conditioner after washing my hair with this soap.

If you are expecting extremely shiny Salon treated kind of hair then you will be disappointed, it makes my hair look and feel healthier.Shampoos and soaps free from SLS and harmful preservatives help in restoring the hair growth cycle and result in hair regrowth with continued usage.

Pros Of The Product:

-This shampoo bar contains Sandalwood, Geranium essential oil, Jojoba oil, Almond oil, Shikakai, Aloe vera gel.All these ingredients are well known and used in hair care since a long time.

-This soap leaves my hair squeaky clean yet does not strip off essential oils and moisture.

-This soap is devoid of any kind of harmful preservative and color.

-This soap is free of SLS.

-This soap contains no animal ingredients. 

-This soaps lasts for a long time.

-It made my hair look and feel healthy, dark and bouncy.

-Controlled frizziness to some extent.

-My hair gets easily detangled after using this soap and skipping  conditioner.

-It gives creamy lather which I really love.

-It has ayurvedic kind fragrance which feels very refreshing.

-Suitable for dry hair.

-Price seems reasonable considering the lasting time of the soap.

-Available these days at several Online shopping sites.

-Soulflower has soaps meant for oily hair too. They have a wide range collection of wonderful soaps.I really love their range.

-This soap  is safe for use on chemically treated hair and Children's hair too.

-This shampoo bar did not cause any kind of hair fall in my case rather stopped a bit of hair fall that I was experiencing with other hair products.

-With regular usage of such healthy products restores hair growth cycle and helps in hair regrowth too. 

-Controls frizziness to some extent too.

-Each of the soap chunk lasts for 8-9 washes on my shoulder length hair.

-Makes your scalp healthy with regular use.

Cons Of The product:

-This seems pretty pricy for a soap bar.

-Whenever I apply hair oil, within two days of its usage my hair looks dull and limp.

-Its a bulky soap bar and not very travel friendly.So I cut  it into pieces.

-Not available at stores or malls or super markets.

-This does not make my hair very shiny and glossy which I always expect.  :p

My Overall Recommendation: I would like to recommend this shampoo bar to people with normal to very dry hair.This soaps makes hair darker, healthier, soft and bouncy.It controls frizziness to some extent too.This soap however wont suit people with oily scalp and they may use another soap meant for their hair.
